A Quarantine Birthday

I was one of the many unfortunate people who had their birthday in this lockdown! I had zero expectations and absolutely no idea for my special day! Birthday’s are a very big deal for me personally. Everything’s got to be perfect on that day and this time i had no clue as to what I’d do. But it turned it out to be the BEST birthday of my life and I couldn’t have asked for anything better!

So y’all, don’t let the lockdown kill your happiness! In fact, I actually feel that I was lucky to have my birthday in a lockdown because now I get to celebrate my day twice. One on the day itself, and second after the situation gets better! That means double the fun and double the excitement. So whoever has their birthday coming during this time, you’re damn lucky!

Birthday Expectations V/s Rheality

Waking up around noon in my jammies!

Got my birthday spirit up to a crazy level! So this was the most important thing I had in mind. Because for God’s sake, it’s the only day of the year where I am supposed to feel very very happy, so a lockdown and a stupid virus would not stop me from being crazily excited! I dressed up to the max, put on my heels and was ready to slay

On my phone all day, roaming from instagram to snapchat to facebook to whatsapp saying ‘thank you’ to everyone.

I clicked like a zillion photos of myself in different poses( I am a really bad poser so I thought I’d improve that aspect). Because of lack of choices of the background, I went from one room of my house to another for a different bg setting in my photos!

Same old daal sabzi coz cant take a risk ordering food online amidst this pandemic.

It’s an established fact that I am a very big foodie so my mom made sure that she makes all my favorite dishes on my birthday! I am so thankful to her for everything. Also, for the people who are unfortunately not around their family, don’t let the birthday spirit down! Try a hand at cooking and make yourself some scrumptious treats because good food makes for a good mood( your parents will be mighty proud if you do that haha!)

Netflix & Chill as usual.

Engage yourself in something that you love doing! I am a movie fanatic and I absolutely love dancing! I spent my day watching movies with my family and dancing our asses off. I skyped my relatives and we literally danced together through video call! My sister had the house decorated so beautifully, I got all the birthday feels right there!

A cranky me throwing tantrums about how my birthday got spoiled and crying myself to sleep.

At the end of the day, I went out in my balcony for some star gazing and the clear blue sky really made me feel very very calm. It was magical and I was so happy that my birthday went so well! It was so unbelievable but I had the time of my life with the people I love dearly! Even at the last hour of my birthday, I was receiving gifts that my sister had made herself and some of them she bought earlier! It was perfect.

So to sum it up, i had an absolutely amazing time on my birthday. Rheality caught me by surprise, i hope mine inspires you too.

Episode #3 – Your Slippers

Q. When was the last time you washed me ( properly, like your other footwear)?

A. Ohh I know this, just yesterday when I was watering the plants.

-You call that washing? HUH!

Q. WHY DO YOU ALWAYS MISHANDLE ME?

A. Okay, what’s your point?

You know what human, just these five questions were enough to know your rheality!

There’s a limit to taking some things for granted! I’ve always been the most comfortable pair of footwear you’ve owned, unlike those cactus like stilettos who always end up hurting you, and those weirdo shoes you pretend to adore so much just because they are so expensive but are actually a pain to look after! Oh drop the act, i know you don’t like them.

By the way, what’s with all the hustle when your parents call you out to pick grocery bags? It’s ethically wrong to pair me with your formal footwear and dance your way downstairs, looking like a penguin! My better half always have her doubts that I’m cheating on her.

Oh and stop fighting with your mom, I’m just a slipper not a nuclear missile that she keeps launching towards you. What’s wrong with you anyway? You lazy panda! Using me to switch off the lights of the room is not cool, okay? Show me some respect.

Also, I swear if you swat a fly using me one more time, I’m gonna stop adjusting my straps to suit your gross feet, DEAL OVER BETWEEN US! It’ll be nice if you actually utilize me for the reason I’m made ( protecting your feet in case you don’t know). It breaks my heart when you completely ignore my existence , and walk right past me , BAREFOOT, with absolutely no regard to my feelings.

Only caring about me when you have to travel elsewhere is kinda rude & selfish. But deep in my ‘sole’, I know I matter to you. I’ve seen you choosing me over other fancy footwear for when you want to take a stroll in the street. Comfort over Style Gang forever, right?

An Ode To Our Favorite Color- Black

“Black is not just a color, it’s an emotion”

The color black is so universal. It’s noteworthy how important and irreplaceable black is for us. Almost everything I own has a hint of black in it. And then there are some things which look good only in black. Black can never go out style because it is everyone’s comfort color. Some of us love donning black colored clothes because it makes us look rather slim (speaking from personal experience), while the rest of us just find it easy to wear black because it is the most convenient yet attractive color!

It amazes me, once I observed, that how much i adore black. And after much thought I realized that it’s a color that is invincible & is a major part of everyone’s rheality! Below are just some of the many reasons why all of us love black :

#1 LBD’s

It’s rightly said that ‘One is never overdressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress.’ Just admit it, all of us have at least an entire section of clothes containing LBD’s. They are just our favorite go-to party wear!

#2 Shopping Spree

Planning to go for a shopping spree? I can guarantee that you’ll come back with everything black. Black is just indispensable! Want Jeans? Just choose black! Want Shoes? Black of course! Nail polish color? Ahh, black it is! Earrings? Black Hoops please! And it’s no surprise that at the end of your spree, your cart is just all black!

#3 Style Statement

We always associate black as a color that defines fashion. Haven’t all of us dreamed of a Black Lamborghini in front of our home? We’ve also longed for a house one day which is gonna have black interiors to add a bit of sophistication!

#4 Fifty Shades of Black

Not just black, we love all it’s tones. Be it faded black, matte black, shiny black, charcoal black and the list goes on. It’s true, we just cannot ever have enough of black. Black is for all kinds of mood. And it’s just astonishing that all these tones of black pair up so good in almost everything that we can actually have infinite combinations of black.

#5 All Things Classic

When we take a closer look, I’m sure all of us realize just how precious black color is. Whether it’s our Handbags, our Wrist Watches, our Hair Pins, our Hair Bands (Veryyy Important), our Mascara & Eyeliner Pigments, the Smokey Eye look, and other stuff which is as vague as crockery! All of us love fancy food plated up in black ceramic plates because it provides the OOMPH! factor and the food suddenly looks so appetizing. The color of our TV, Laptop, Phone- Everything just looks better when in classic black!

The color black makes our life colorful and that is just a twisted mystery we will never solve. But the truth stands, and it’s important to appreciate just how important black is. An Ode to Black🖤

My soul mate; the cherry to my sundae; the peanut to my butter; the cheese to my pizza……… NOT YOU HUMAN, my pal, my pillow! Oh just look at it lying there, lifeless on the floor since days *sigh*. It’s been so long since I’ve felt complete. There’s no me without you, my dear friend, my buddy, my pillow!

Well, I don’t blame you human, it was only justified to shut the door of the room by throwing my pal; to switch off the lights by throwing my pal; to hit your sibling by throwing my pal- Totally Justified!! How many are yet to be sacrificed?

But to be honest, I’ve been a wee bit worried about you, because there’s no one else in the entire world who’s felt the tears rolling off your face at 2:00 am, your runny nose ruining my soft, hand woven, expensive clothes- yes, the sheets. Oh and by the way, the thing you were worried about yesterday- DON’T DO IT, IT’S A STUPID DECISION, JUST DON’T…. okay then do not come back crying to me, I won’t……. oh well, where else would you go?

Pssstt! Pssstt! Pssstt! Mom came in the other day and she saw that test which you failed and hid under me, sorry homie! couldn’t hide our secret very well, so just a heads up! Well, it’s kinda your fault too. Who told you to skip work and stay up all night watching that show? (Epic show by the way, great choice, absolutely loving it… can’t wait for the next season!)

*Buzz Buzz* Hey human, it’s a message from your friend! Hey what’s this? 10 day trip to the beach? A Five Star Hotel??? Ughhhh, just look at the photos of this place… huh! So what if the bed comes with temperature control, HAH! I mean that’s not so great…. right? WHATTT, fitted with night lights too????? Ohhh, so you’re gonna cheat on me with this Mr. Goody Two Shoes-Show Off? Fine! Go! But remember, there’s no place like home & the warmth and coziness I give is nothing compared to this five star piece of crap, HUH!

If Things Could Talk : Hair Me Out

Episode #1 – Your Hair

So I’ve been begging you to oil me at least once a week but what’s with all this attitude, huh? You’ve been ignoring me for almost a month now, have me locked in a silly bun and the irony? You’ve been posting about ‘freedom’ on your social media! LET ME LOOSE, YOU IGNORANT HUMAN!

It’s almost always snowy out here! Thanks to your ‘No Care’ routine. And for god’s sake, stop sending embarrassing snaps of me saying ‘bad hair day’, whatta hypocrite! I’m losing my friends & family every time you shower, it’s really painful to watch them go down the drain, okay! Some of them are stuck there forever, i can hear their screams!!

Also, all of us know you’ve been bitching about us to your shampoo bottle, but you know what? Try saying all that to Mr. Conditioner. He’s the only one who cares about us.

Yeah, that’s right! I turned one of us grey, good luck finding it!! So, at our last meet ‘Braid Summit 2017’ we decided unanimously (yeah, even your favourite ‘highlights’) that we’re tired of splitting away from our families and as per the ‘Split Ends Act’ we’ll be punishing you for your utter ignorance towards us.

We’ll know when you need us the most, the hair swing, yeah! Good luck with that! And this is the last time we’re telling you, TRIM US or bear the consequences. We’re all at different heights…yesterday my relatives were boasting about procuring the top rooms of your head, i just hate Mr. & Mrs. Root. We shoulder lengths need justice!

10 Things You’ll Relate To If You’re Obsessed With A Show/Movie

Rheality is difficult and sometimes it takes a toll on me. In times like these, I like to escape into another world. The world of sitcoms,web series,shows & movies.

This world is filled with drama, comedy and tragedy of course! Kinda like the rheality… but at least in this world some elements are dreamy, which makes it so relatable yet utopian.

Now, there are some shows that impact you in a very different way. These shows become the center of everything you do & you just cannot stop admiring them. So if you’re someone who obsesses over this stuff and absolutely loves the reel life, you’re gonna agree to all these things :

1. The Humming Bird

Because of the extra dose of your favourite show/movie, you hum the title song, the background music, even the acoustic part of the series & somehow you think you’re awesome at it (ask your fam, they’ll tell you the truth)

2. The Know It All

You’ve memorized all the dialogues, even the useless one’s. You know which scene is to follow & you know the exact reaction that the person is about to give. And just admit it, you take pride in knowing the full name of the entire cast AND CREW IRL(real & reel).

3. The Copycat

You’ve acted out every scene during showers with utmost perfection (so you think!). You have the urge to act like that one character in almost every situation in real life & get mad when other people don’t get your references. (HAPPENS ALL THE TIME).

4. The Dreamer

You have successfully entered the creep zone. You now relate to that one character you love the most & dream about being opposite it or as it and your life has now become a movie. You react,eat,laugh & daydream as if you were a part of the series. CONGRATULATIONS, you’re far away from sanity now.

5. The Stalker

Your social media is filled with the entire cast of the show/movie. You are now an active part of their real life too! You have no shame in DMing them thousand messages per minute & their comment section is somehow your property! You make sure to like all their posts and their family’s too!!

6. The Guardian

Nobody has the right to speak ill about your favourite show even if it’s their opinion because HOW DARE YOU HAVE AN OPINION AGAINST IT? You will shush anyone who (easily) offends you with their POV about the show, due to your extensive knowledge about the creativity that went in the making of the show/movie.

7. The Inquisitive Soul

You have already googled multiple times whether there’s a sequel in the making and either you’re emotional AF coz there’s no more seasons to it or you’re hyped AF coz BRAVO! Your obsession shall continue for another season.

8. The Wizard of Re-runs

Watching the show again & again is your cheap thrill. You love to experience the same wave of emotions all over again and it’s kinda what you live for, because what’s better than watching your favourite show/movie after a tiring day.

9. The Director

You’ve already thought of or written alternate endings to the show, and sulk over the unfortunate death of your favourite character. You analyse all the possibilities that could’ve averted the tragedy (if only you worked that hard in real life!).

10. The Fortune Teller

You jump at the mere opportunity you find to guess the fate of the characters & the storyline. You love the guessing game and this is what keeps you hooked to the series. (Even when you know the plot for shows that are over, you long for a twist…haha!)

I’m guilty for all of the above! I’ve been a crazy,lunatic fan for many shows and I am proud of it. But adjusting to the rheality again after a series hangover is hard. K!BYE BRB, gotta find a new series to cling to!!!

Siblings : Rivalry & Love

They are the reason why our blood pressure surpasses normal levels.

They annoy us with funny made-up names, and know our Achilles Heel i.e. where it hurts the most.

They are the biggest tattletale’s we’ve ever witnessed.

They leave no opportunity to tell us how ugly we are.

They are the ‘Siblings’ – the most annoying yet precious creatures.

In my Rheality, I am the younger sibling. And as much as I wanna ChokeSlam my big sister, she is the most amazing human being in my life (Of course, I won’t tell her). I mean, I’ll donate my kidney for you big sis, but how dare you touch my food? How dare you wear my clothes? HOW DARE YOU!!

Siblings are a gift from god(Pfft, so they say). But no one told you that these creatures come with so many *T&C Applied and are riskier than mutual fund investments!! So, a friendly advice… before you pray for a sibling, PLEASE READ ALL SCHEME RELATED DOCUMENTS CAREFULLY!

So all in all, you’ll never regret having a sibling once you realise how irreplaceable they are. They’re ferocious yet cute, annoying yet lovable, and most importantly they’re the only one’s who know exactly where it tickles the most.

Student Life V/s Adulting: 10 things everyone misses after getting a job

That sudden realisation of not being able to do what you’ve done for the major part of your life (chilling and having fun). That sudden wave of shock that you’re solely responsible for every action you do and in charge of your own finances. THAT, hits you hard when you finally step out in the #HarshRheality.

Of course, it comes with its own perks and it’s cool being independent. Like come on, you’re a free bird ready to spread your wings as wide as you want because the sky is the limit. No more restrictions. And the coolest part, you start earning. But there’s always gonna be a little part inside of you that is nostalgic towards the prior student life you’ve always cherished.
